Sammy Togan is a character featured in Dying Light.

Biography

Events of Dying Light

He is a young survivor residing within the Tower, along with his mother and father, Salma and Dawud Togan. Though his parents' marriage is troubled, he is the focus of their attention.

Later on, during the Gunslinger side quest, Dawud takes Sammy and leaves the Tower by force using a gun Crane provides to him, unaware of Dawud's plan. Salma explains that Dawud wished to take Sammy and find a safer place to live against Salma's wishes, and that the two of them had been fighting about it for weeks. She explains that she and her husband have been estranged for a long time. A note found in Dawud's pawn shop indicates she may have been the victim of domestic violence. A regretful Crane vows to find Dawud and return Sammy to his mother.

Once in Old Town, Dawud fails to find a safer place to live, and ends up bitten by a zombie. He manages to hide his son in a closet and sends out a distress call before turning. Crane receives the call, initiating the Lost in Space side quest, kills the infected Dawud, and rescues Sammy.

Dawud: "Sorry about the wild goose chase, but I couldn't risk you tailing me. These guys are pretty serious about following their procedures." Crane: "This isn't fair to Salma." Dawud: "Salma and me are done." Crane: "That's not the point." Dawud: "So, what is? You got something in mind? I've still got a gun, you know." Smuggler: "Crane, We've got a rule. Everybody minds their own business. If you don't follow the rules, you don't go through." Crane: "No problem."

Crane: "Sammy! It's Mr. Crane. Are you in here?" Sammy: "Please, don't hurt me!" — Upon finding Sammy: — Sammy: "Go away! Leave me alone!" Crane: "Easy kid. It's all over. Are you alright?" Sammy: "My dad got hurt. He said he was becoming like the other sick people, and that he couldn't protect me anymore. He said if I came out of the cabinet, he would hurt me, but that once he was sick I'd be safe, because he wouldn't remember I was in there." Crane: "Your dad saved your life." Sammy: "Where is he?" Crane: "He's gone, Sammy. There was nothing anyone could do. Now, I have to get you back to your mom." Sammy: "I wish I could have stayed with her."

• He may sometimes be found playing with a toy sword. Upon close examination, the toy bears a striking resemblance to the iconic Master Sword from Nintendo's Legend of Zelda franchise.
