"A woman named Aida has been evicted from the village by someone named Harun. Her two kids went looking for her. Only one of them came back, and their mother is still missing. I promised I'd find Aida and her son Jamil. But first I'll talk to Harun and see why he made her leave the village."
Quest introduction

Where's My Mother? is a side quest available in Dying Light.[1]

Objectives[]

Objective icon
Find Harun
Objective icon
Talk to Aida's daughter Yasmina
The kids found their mom at the houses behind the tunnel. Aida was bitten, so she left her son in one of the houses, and took Yasmina to someone who had Antizin. But his price was to make her his slave. I'd better find her son, before going after Aida. He's hiding at one of the houses behind the tunnel-a house with red flowers.

Objective icon
Talk to Harun
Aida was bitten by an Infected. There's no Antizin here, so Harun threw her out of the village. Aida's daughter, Yasmina, returned alone after she and her brother went looking for her. I'd better talk to Yasmina and find out what happened to those kids out there.

Objective icon
Find the house with the red flowers behind the tunnel
Objective icon
Secure the house, where Jamil is hiding
Objective icon
Talk to Jamil
Jamil was hiding in a closet in one of the houses. He's shaken, but I think it's alright to leave him there a while longer, while I find his mom. She's being held by someone named Salim.

Objective icon
Find Salim's house
I've found the house, but the basement door is locked. I'll need to find the key. Pretty safe bet it's on Salim. Pretty safe bet I'll have to take it from him. But I'm going to give him one chance.

Objective icon
Talk to Salim
Objective icon
Eliminate the Infected
Objective icon
Kill Salim
Objective icon
Pick up the keys
Objective icon
Search Salim's workshop
Objective icon
Free Aida
I've released Aida. She can't return to the village, so she's going to take her kids to the Tower. Lena will take care of them, but I'll have to come up with some extra Antizin to support two more people. Guess I'm a bleeding heart, but what's the alternative? Be like Salim? Or Rais? That's not for me.

Walkthrough[]

After the village is unlocked as a safe zone during the main mission Pact with Rais, Meliha can be seen and heard calling and banging loudly on a door in Fisherman's Village. Speak to her to start the quest. She will state how her sister, Aida was forced out of the village by Harun and how her children Yasmina and Jamil went out after her. Yasmina returned, but Jamil and Aida did not. Knock on the door to Harun's cabin and pick the lock (medium) to find him. It quickly becomes clear Harun is not inside his cabin, so leave the cabin. Speak to some of the townsfolk to find Jarun. Jaul is one of them, but there are also some generic fishermen:

Show: Fishermen's conversation

Crane: "I'm looking for Harun."
Fisherman: "Harun? If a toothache was a man, it would be Harun. If you see him, could you push him into a hole?"

The second fisherman:

Crane: "I'm need to find Harun."
Fisherman: "Nobody likes Harun, but if you ask me, he's the only one who knows what needs to be done. You can't be tough and be popular. Right? You see what I'm saying?"

The fisherman near Yasmina:

Crane: "Where can I find Harun?"
Fisherman: "Most likely he is under the bridge. THat is where most trolls reside. Eating fish heads, perhaps."

There is also an objective to speak to Yasmina, this can be done alongside the objective to find Harun. Coincidentally, the fisherman who can direct Crane to Harun is also located just outside Yasmina's cabin. The fisherman claims Harun is likely located under the bridge, so head to the small platform there and speak to him. After doing so, head to the house where Jamil is located, it is the Red Flower cafe e bar. Enter the bar, kill the infected inside, and block the entrances to turn it into a safe zone, then find Jamil. Jamil is hiding in a closet on the first floor, in the children's bedroom.

Jamil will inform Crane that his mother went to the "tool shop" belonging to Salim. It is located a fair bit further north. Follow the road through the tunnel and keep following it to end up there. A safe zone is located next to it. Knock on Salim's front door and talk to the man. Speaking to him turns up useless, as he turns on an alarm to draw the Infected near. Kill the Infected, this can be somewhat of a challenge because every Infected in proximity is counted for this objective. Kill any Infected in the area if the alarm doesn't shut off.

"When I'm done with you, I'll hunt down her children and feed them to the volatiles!"
Salim

After the alarm is shut off, Salim himself shows up to fight. Kill him, search his body for the keys, and enter his workshop to look for Aida. Move the closet facing the northern wall and head down the trapdoor. Open the regular door to find Aida with her hands cuffed in a basement bedroom. Speak with her to complete the quest.
